Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026 · applies to getnewshade.com and the Newshade Chrome extension
This is a translation of the German privacy policy. If the two versions differ, the German version applies.
1. Controller
The person or entity named in the legal notice (Impressum) is responsible for data processing on this website and in the Newshade extension.
2. The website getnewshade.com
This website is hosted by all-inkl.com (ALL-INKL.COM - Neue Medien Münnich, Germany). This website does not use cookies or any analytics or tracking services. When you visit the site, the hosting provider processes technically necessary server log data (e.g. IP address, time, page requested) to deliver the site and prevent abuse. This data is not combined with other data sources.
Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. This may establish a connection to servers of Google (Google Ireland Limited). No cookies are set.
3. The Newshade extension
Settings (allowed domains, filter terms, sensitivity,
constructive mode) are stored locally in your Chrome profile
(chrome.storage.sync) and synced only between your own
devices signed in to Chrome. There is no server of ours that receives
this data.
Statistics (number of hidden/viewed articles per day)
are stored only locally in your browser (chrome.storage.local)
and are not transmitted anywhere.
Article content (headlines/text excerpts) is analysed only locally in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server of ours.
AI analysis (optional): If you turn this feature on, the headline of the article in question is sent directly from your browser to the provider you choose: either Anthropic (api.anthropic.com) or an OpenAI-compatible provider of your choice (e.g. OpenAI, Groq, Mistral or a self-hosted server). The privacy policy of the provider you choose applies. Your API key is stored only locally and is never sent to us.
4. What we don't do
- No tracking, no analytics, no advertising IDs
- No sharing of data with third parties, except the optional request to the AI provider you chose, which you have to turn on yourself
- No server of ours that collects browser data
5. Your rights
Because we process practically no personal data, most data subject rights (access, erasure, objection) have nothing to apply to: your settings are stored only in your own Chrome profile and can be removed completely at any time in the extension settings or by uninstalling the extension.
6. Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
Without prejudice to any other remedy, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority if you believe that the processing of your data infringes the GDPR. As the operator is based in Belgium, this is the Autorité de protection des données (APD/GBA). You can also contact the supervisory authority where you live.
7. Contact
If you have questions about data protection, please use the contact address given in the legal notice (Impressum).
